Hi again Mario,
it took some time until I could work again on your problem.
As I thought already, I am not able to reproduce the bug with the files
you gave to me.
Nevertheless I have some idea what the trouble might be:
Could it be that you have an out-dated latex2html reading the newer
html3_2.pl?
This might happen when the new distribution is installed over the old
$LATEX2HTMLDIR directory, and the old executable latex2html script is
still kept somewhere.
By chance you happened to invoke this one instead of the new executable.
This way it might be possible to confuse the out-dated l2h with the new
perl extensions in $LATEX2HTMLDIR/styles resp. $LATEX2HTMLDIR/versions,
and you get such seemingly impossible errors.
Some hint, more I can not give.
