Hi,

After a long gap I thought I would install the latest version of
latex2html. So I have tried both 98.1p7 and 98.2b6. Both work nicely
with the exception of EXTRA_IMAGE_SCALE which seems to me be fairly
seriously broken.

As I understand it, setting EXTRA_IMAGE_SCALE to different values
should not change the apparent size of images in the browser by very
much. For example, EXTRA_IMAGE_SCALE=2 should make the bitmaps twice
as large in each dimension but the browser should be intructed to
shrink them. If I have misunderstood, please ignore what follows.

FYI, I have $PK_GENERATION=1, $METAFONT_DPI=180, $DVIPS_MODE="toshiba"
and MATH_SCALE_FACTOR=1.4

When $EXTRA_IMAGE_SCALE is not set, both 98.1p7 and 98.2b6 work fine.

When $EXTRA_IMAGE_SCALE=1, both 98.1p7 and 98.2b6 produce very SMALL
images in the browser for math.

When $EXTRA_IMAGE_SCALE=2, both 98.1p7 does not too badly, and 98.2b6
produces rather LARGE images for math.

When $EXTRA_IMAGE_SCALE=3, both 98.1p7 and 98.2b6 produce rather LARGE
images in the browser for math.

Has anyone else experienced such problems, or got any suggestions as
to where the code may be broken?

Cheers,

Peter Craig
