* license.texi: dos2unix + svn propset svn:eol-style to LF. I think that file should not exist. It's just another redundant copy -> unnecessary complication. You should be able to do your comparisons against the version in latex2e.texi?
In addition (since this topic is dragging on and on and on), it seems to me the comparisons are entirely unnecessary in the first place. The license has never changed, and will never change (even if we wanted to, which we don't), because the original authors are uncontactable. -k
