I'm generally OK with something like this, but it might be wiser to pick something a bit more frequent, perhaps four or six times a day. That would have the effect of spacing repacks out through the (working) day rather than clustering them all at a particular time.
A habit I picked up from somebody years ago was to select the minute part of a cron job either randomly, or by looking at the clock when selecting it and picking the minute part of the current time; the point of this is to try to avoid the effect where all the regular jobs on a system tend to happen on the hour, producing spiky load patterns. -- https://code.launchpad.net/~ilasc/lp-production-crontabs/reschedule-repack-cron/+merge/400686 Your team Launchpad code reviewers is requested to review the proposed merge of lp:~ilasc/lp-production-crontabs/reschedule-repack-cron into lp:~launchpad-pqm/lp-production-crontabs/staging. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~launchpad-reviewers Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~launchpad-reviewers More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
