Thank Colin, that is the precise type of input I was looking for. Agreed on moving to a more frequent schedule and adjusted to running 6 times a day; a good idea indeed to pick the minute part of my current time when altering the cron schedule - went with 35 passed the hour on this case, looking at the rest of the jobs it didn't seem to collide with other ones either.
