Dear wireworkers.
I had the following problem.
My new app uses the serial port with VISA VIs.
After creating the app I sent it to the customer
with the VISA runtime.
He installed everything on his XP System and it
worked fine from the start.
Some days later he tryed to instal it on a Win NT
and a Win 98 system without success.
In cases like this I get the usual telephon call.
Hey martin your sh.. f... software is not working....
and I am on a ship doing the commissiong in the
mediteranian sea..... ;-) I need your help emediately....
Its urgent 20 ppl are standing aroud me and nothing
works....
So here is my hint to ppl that want to avoid this problem.
On XP its enough to instal the VISA runtime.
On NT and 98 you have to instal the VISA runtime TWICE
and you have to reboot TWICE. Unfortunately there is no
window pop up that tells the customer that he/she has to
execute the VISA runtime once again. :-(
My customer was very happy after the secound call of the VISA
runtime.exe because everything worked from now on.
