An old teacher of mine said that they used to send the women teachers out
when there were race riots in schools in Manchester, apparently we brits
are so respectful (I don't no now though) of women they were able to take
the weapons of the pupils with no risk, also each side was looking for a way
to back out without injury so I suppose that made it easier. One afternoon
a male tutor tried to separate two youths from fighting and ended up needing
rescue from my old tutor. Then again she was lovely so I doubt anyone could
hurt her<g>.
