Hi Joan:

I don't know what more could be done here in California. Short of
course of making guns illegal. Which of course wouldn't bother me.

We have metal detectors on campus', on campus police, laws which hold
the owners of guns responsible for whatever happens if a kid gets it, up
to including murder. The campus things are going further and further
into the lower grades. Most high schools have both the metal detectors
and police, and a lot of the middle schools have one or both. Some
elementary schools are now getting them.

Teachers are a unprotected target for some kid who decides that they
have a problem. There have been teachers at Poly who have gone out
after school to go home, and have found their cars completely
destroyed. Some who have had their homes paint balled, etc. We have
been TP'd a couple of times, and had eggs thrown once. One of the kids
that was caught doing this did it because he failed the semester in
science. Never mind the fact that he was only there 10 or 12 days out
of the whole semester.

It really is scary to say the least.
