I also have this problem. In fact I have two mice connected to my
computer, and I see the effect with one (a wacom tablet mouse that I
prefer) but not the other (a more standard mouse). This behaviour
started relatively recently, so it suggestes the gtk2 routines are more
sensitive than they should be to the order of events.
