With the added downside that it's far from certain that you'll ever be able to make fpGUI look native on all platforms: one of its explicit design goals was to look exactly the same on all platforms, which is contrary to the Lazarus design goal.

There is nothing bad about an widgetset with the same look&feel on all platforms. IMO only its *use* is restricted to specific applications.

Many task based/worker bee applications fit this description. Point of Sale, banking, telemarketing/CSR, etc. IMO, these kinds of applications are perfect candidates for a uniform widget set like fpGUI or even Java or Adobe Flex, etc. Not only does the look and feel NOT matter per platform with these kinds of applications, but it probably helps to make the users who have used it on one platform, comfortable with it on another platform like going from Windows to Linux or Mac. I'm sure Graeme will confirm this as I think his company's main product fits into the category somewhat.

This of course takes into account user expectation. Business applications seem to receive much more tolerance in terms of native look and feel as opposed to more mainstream types of products like Graphics editors, etc.
