I do this often, and have no problems. Why? Because the apps I use (in this example Mozilla Firefox), supports just like Lazarus a parameter to say which "profile directory to use".

You possibly forget that then you'll have to initialize all those added configs, and when you want to change something, for all installations, every single config has to be edited - a maintenance nightmare :-(
