Sorry, I don't understand that whole discussion. Delphi uses one Application instance, residing in another DLL (if Build with Packages), so FPC/Lazarus should do the same.

IMO it's time to implement decent handling of shared libraries in FPC, so that packages can be loaded at runtime, and rebuilding the IDE is not required any more.
