I have a 4 port KVM switch which only has USB ports, so works out
rather well for me.

Incorrect. I've a mini and 12 free ports on my PC KVM switches. I
can't
connect them.
Why? Mini uses USB, which is not really common for PC KVMs, which
usually
use PS/2.
