I did see it, and I could explain the behaviour to somebody on IRC, who
thought is was a bug (he had his ctrl key down without knowing and then
all files closed except the one he wanted to be closed) :-)

Unfortunately it is no use in windows, because the tabs don't have close
buttons (x).

I was thinking to another trick: when you close an editor page, to not
go on the previous one, but the next one:

[Page1] [Page2] [Page3] [Page4]

If I close [Page 2], the focus goes on [Page3]... not on [Page1] as it
is right now.
