I used Lazarus on Mandrake for a while and about a month ago I decided to change to Xubuntu. Now lazarus doesn't work.
I installed FPC 2.0.2 following the alien method presented in this wiki page: http://wiki.lazarus.freepascal.org/index.php/Installing_Lazarus#Another_way_to_install_Lazarus_under_Debian
This is what happen
* When I try to run "make clean all" to build lazarus the first thing I notice is this message:
grep: /etc/ld.so.conf: No such file or directory
then it continues for a while and seems to compile everythng until linking time, when it complains:
Linking ../lazarus
lazarus.pp(113,1) Error: Can't call the linker, switching to external linking
make[2]: *** [lazarus] Error 1
make[2]: se sale del directorio `/home/juan1/Aplicaciones/lazarus/ide'
make[1]: *** [ide] Error 2
make[1]: se sale del directorio `/home/juan1/Aplicaciones/lazarus/ide'
make: *** [ide] Error 2
I've installed binutils and binutils-static packages. Is binutils-dev needed too?
* When I try to run a lazarus binary build in my good ol' Mandrake I cannot rescan the FPC sources. This is quite weird because fpc.cfg seems to point to the right directory.
Basically Xubuntu = Ubuntu - gnome + Xfce, so I think answer valid for Ubuntu should be valid for Xubuntu too.
A final note: With debian based distros getting so popular, why there's no an up-to-date deb package in official repositories. I could find fpc 1.0.1 or so, a quite old one.
Thanks in advance.
