I don't know. On windows GetLocaleInfo(... , LOCALE_SABBREVLANGNAME, ... and
GetLocaleInfo( ... , LOCALE_SABBREVCTRYNAME are used. Maybe you can tweak your windows settings so that they return AF and ZAF or something like that.
