Damn, I think you are right.  I had a look at the LCL code to see what
is there and most of it seem to be implemented for Windows only (Bug
#7059) and is missing for GTK which is what I am developing under
(though I would need it on Win32 and GTK).  :-(

Pitty I don't know GTK's internal to fix it.  So how does the Lazarus
Messages window manage to paint lines (text) in different colors?
What component is used there, a TListBox?  If so, isn't the OwnerDraw
stuff similar to the TListView?
