I beg to differ on this account.
All depends on how you implement your projects, and what kind of
projects you have. I do large applications in Delphi, using RAD,
no OOP and it's all very maintainable. Many of the arguments
presented in your mail are easily remedied without extra cost.
Second, people doing OOP are usually high-profile, experienced
programmers. As a result their code is automatically better and
more maintainable. If you don't have these high-profile programmers
available (they usually also cost more, BTW) then RAD is the optimal
way to go.
In IT, there is no single 'right' approach. IMHO there cannot be,
because there are too many variable factors. We're not constructing
cars or buildings, where the rules are obvious and laid out since
many centuries. IT is too young and too prone to hype.
