The Lazarus team is glad to announce the 0.9.24 release. This release

Great job! Congratulations! :)
Then I assume this will be shortly followed by fixes branch of this
latest stable release (v.0.9.24.1?) using the latest fpc's fixes
branch of the latest stable release (v.2.2.1).
Nope, that are moving targets, it will be 0.9.24.2 and 2.2.2 (or 2.2.0)
I agree with Marc. *IF* there ever will be a 0.9.24.2 release, which the maintainer
of the fixes branch has to decide and find the manpower for, then it will be based
on the latest fpc release. Therefore *possible* snapshots will be based on the fpc
release too. But you can get the sources from svn yourself and try to compile every
possible combination. I don't know which fpc version Guilo wants to support on the
fixes branch, but certainly the latest fpc release.
I personally prefer fixes branch (of stable release) than the stable
release itself.
Why ?
(Personally I prefer stability and not a moving target where you have to
find out what surprised tomorrow will bring)
