We will continue to actively develop Qt and Qtopia. We also want to
underline that we will continue to support the open source community by
continuing to release these technologies under the GPL.
Trolltech has benefited greatly from the feedback the community has been
providing while using Qt to develop free software. We respect the
symbiotic relationship Qt has with the community and we wish to continue
and enhance this relationship.
...
Nokia is committed to continue Trolltech’s current open source
engagements, including honoring the KDE Free Qt agreement, and we will
seek to strengthen our support of KDE in the future. As a first step
Nokia will apply to become a Patron of KDE.

Yes I agree but I find KDE 4 a very interesting development.
Interesting indeed ... KDE 4 somehow has the same goal as FPC/Lazarus,
yes I agree
Lazarus cooperating with KDE4 will lead to a very strong multiplatform
development.
IBM took Open Ofice and improved it with Lotus Symphony.
Sun did take over MYSQL.
Now Nokia buys Trolltech QT.
Well now the KDE core developers are nervous.
What will the future bring to them ?
but if all goes well, then the the Lazarus core developers have much
less trouble in porting their Appliccations
to Windows Linux and Mac OS x :-D
they are going to infect Windows, MacOS, and mobile devices with their
framework, desktop and WM, here's a nice intro:
