Hi Andrej

Profiling the beamer is principally nothing new. It is just another color device with
'wrong colors'. Principally we can generate an ICC profile which can correct this.
Generating an appropriate ICC profile for a beamer is as far as I think for some part
the usual measurements and calculations as for printers or monitors but then we will
have - as far as I see it today - the same situation as for printers. We have to
adjust the automatic generated profiles to do the last cleanup to optimize them. I
don't know how long we will have to develop algorithms which do 75% of this
automatically.

There does come a commercial product for this: EYE-ONE from Gretag MacBeth. See
www.i1color.com/products/i1_pro_with_i1beamer.asp. I think they are now hard working
on the last step, which was perhaps unexpectedly more difficult as it seemed at the
beginning.

We should check the patent situation if we do want to do the same or similar.

Regards
Ernst

Subject: [Lcms-user] Profiling a beamer

Hallo!

I'm using a beamer (projector) connected to my computer and colours are
"washed"!
Any idea how to profile a beamer?
Since beamer has very different caracteristic than monitor (contrast,
brigtnest, gamma....)

Best regards
Andrej
