Thanks again Gerhard,If ImageMagick has to convert from PostScript or PDF to a bitmap image format, I think it actually just calls gs to do the rendering.
I think I need to update ghostscript. The problem is some of clients vector graphics are very large and it takes time to rasterise into bitmap images. ghostscript is lying beneath ImageMagick at the moment. It is very slow.
The jpegicc utility program is very fast since it is written in C.Phillip,
I don't understand how jpegicc could replace ghostscript.
Didn't you say, that you initially have a PDF file and want to create a JPEG preview from the PDF?
But how can you feed PDF directly into jpegicc, in order that you don't need gs any more?
BTW: Unfortunately even tifficc/jpegicc are not as fast as I would like them to be.
