The scanners I used were not able to properly scan the dark patches of the target.

I used a Xrite digital swatchbook and gretag 5.0, worked a charm. the resultant profile looked very near (using gretag's gamut viewer in their profile editor) some profiles I found using google for the same printer+paper (not on epson's site - as that's just full of sh*t).


also printing spot colours using render intent = absolute gives very acurate results (for in gammut colours).

hence although it is supprisingly dark when no profile and 'no color adjust' is selected, it certianly gives what seems to be the correct results for profiling.
