osX seem to be affected, about Windows I dont know, Linux dont hase such thing at all. As well your windowing system will in the first place use only the vcgt tag. Thus it provides a way to linearise to a hopefully neutral gray axis. The color correction of content, from the image colour space to the display colour space, must be done by the application.
