Hi,
In the results, while a linear colour space like ISO coated (ECI) shows a
pure CMY black very dark and neutral, my physical proofer
(EpsonStylus3000) shows there a very bad cast. And with backpreservation
turned on this becomes a huge color shift in the ISO coated ->
EpsonStylus3000 transformation.
Many thanks, Kai-Uwe and Graeme for your comments.
Since this is a topic not covered by ICC spec, the "better" way to do
that is still unclear to me. I know Argyll already have such feature, but
I must admit I have not taken a look to the code. That's to prevent
myself being "contaminated" with Graeme's method. On some of the
usages given to lcms, IP is a big issue, so special care should be taken.
Please keep in mind this is just my first attempt. It is tested, but not
as extensively as I would wish. The algorithm makes some assumptions
in order to get good performance. One of those assumptions is that black
ink is neutral. Quite possibly, this is not the case of your proofer.
I plan to do a more extensive assesment of K preservation quality in a
near future, and for sure this is going to give some refinement to the
algorithm. For that reason, feedback is very important to me and I
really appreciate it.
Regards,
Marti Maria
