I think you are refereing to LProf version 1.09 since lcms does not have an
end user application for creating profiles using IT8.7 or other targets.
Since I am now the maintainer of LProf I will try to answer your questions.

First version 1.09 is VERY old and has been unsupported since about 2002. The
last released version is 1.11.4 and it has many improvements in how it goes
about creating a profile. The number and type of improvements is too
extensive to list here.

1. I don't know about the EpsonScan software so I can't say for sure. But
LProf has always created profiles that were in strict compliance with the ICC
standard and that was true for version 1.09 as well as all newer versions. So
either something happened and you have a bad profile or the Epson software
does not comply with ICC standards.

2. First you should be using a newer version of LProf. Otherwise we will not
be able to support you. Newer versions are available on the LProf sourceforge
download page. If you would like I can create a Windows binary (I am assuming
that you are on Windows - if you are on a *nix machine then building LProf is
fairly simple) from a relatively recent CVS image since this has many features
that have not yet been released.

3. That should work.

4. VueScan only works with Matrix/Shaper profiles. LProf CVS supports the
creation of Matrix/Shaper profiles but no older versions do.

If possible could you open a supprt request on the LProf sourceforge site
http://sourceforge.net/projects/lprof/ . This will make it easier to track
this and will also keep this traffic off this email list.
