Good question. Which one does LCMS in a current version use? I'd assume ICC V4 
16 bit, but I'm not sure. The information provided has been determined 
analytically as the simplest linear transformation from Lab float encoding to 
Lab 16 bit encoding all within LCMS.

The problem is here for me, that it's just not well documented what 
transformations to use to get from one to the other. As I stated, it's a 
documentation problem ...
