I'm building an environment consisting on 2 Gentoo servers. One of them is a www server that will handle dns and some features like the egroupware system. Egroupware authenticates against a Microsoft Windows Active Directory. It works like a dream.
The other server will handle smtp (postfix) and imap (courier-imap) with sasl authentication. What I want is to authenticate the imap and the smtp services in the Linux mail server against Active Directory. I also have 2 problems: The ADS domain (e.g. lan.example.com) is not the same of the mail domain (example.com). I also need support for virtual domains in some way. I asked Google and couldn't even find a way to do it. Should I configure an openldap service syncing or proxy my AD? Should I set the mail services (I know postfix, cyrus-sasl and courier-authlib have ldap support) to talk directly to Active Directory? I'm a bit newbie with ldap, but I'm reading many articles and manuals.
