First, its good to hear you are finding Memory DR working well for you!
The downside would be known bugs in 7.2.x that we've fixed in 7.3.x.
We've put an enormous effort into quality testing with 7.3.x, so we
recommend you benefit from that rigorous testing. I can provide a
breakdown of the bug fixes if it helps, but we would recommend you hold
off production until you can upgrade to 7.3.x
which features on OVM2.0 will not work with 7.2.10?
I had previously listed Cooperative Guest Migration, PCIe Direct IO and
Memory DR as the three biggest features that require 7.3.x on T2/T2+
platforms. As you found, we didn't explicitly disable Memory DR on
older firmware but we do recommend the latest firmware for production
use, whereas the other two feature enhancements will not function at all
on 7.2.x.
