Certainly. Projects of general interest may be better suited to be sponsored
on sourceforge. Projects specific to the Church such as MLS related apps
(Palm organizers, scheduling/activity planners, MLS plugins etc could be on a
Church hosting site (perhaps projects requiring copyright assignments to the
Church)).

Sourceforge would be a good starting point. Why re-invent the wheel.....

web PAF, a dynamic filtering/whitelist/blacklist system for squid, educational
games based on the Book of History, Duty of God & Young Women in Excellence
tracker, a library resource system (check in/out), a building scheduler, MLS
to Palm & Palm to leadership appointment scheduling, a lesson planner/builder
(tied into the library), Ward budgeting, an Attendance tracker, Staffing
Assistance (an expanded calling system plugin for MLS), emergency prep
planning, Home storage with a menu planner to setup correct rotation of the
home storage items and build a purchasing schedule, a set of plugins for MLS
to make welfare admin easier for the Bishop, a cub/scout/varsity/venture
tracking system, a private collaboration system for Bishops and Stake
Leaders, a meeting planning assistant (Sacrament Meeting planner), and the
list goes on and on.

Good luck
