we've had this discution on LRP list, I believe.

I don't remember the do's and don'ts, but different drivers for read and
read/write seams like a good idea, provided that the system is still booted
from the read-only floppy, and the modules used are the ones on the floppy.
a timed prompt on the floppy boot to select IDE driver would be cool.
