I've created the LRP patch files for 2.4.6, using those that
Dave/Charles used for 2.4.0-test11, and also created a unified patch
incorporating both patches together.
I've put everything into
http://leaf.sourceforge.net/pub/oxygen/kernel/2.4.6 and plan to put
kernels and such in there too. I looked at Charles' site (only found
2.4.0-test11), Dave C's site (ditto), and George's site (only found
2.4.3 and modules, precompiled). I think that perhaps Ewald had
something, but again no patches. So I created my own, and they are now
available also from the Kernel page under the Oxygen Release.
I don't know for sure if I will use a 2.4 kernel in Oxygen, but glibc
2.2 is a-begging :-) People who know more than I seem to like 2.4 quite
a lot; its only a matter of time I suppose.
What changes do you have to make to use 2.4? I went through Dave's
changes for root.lrp under 2.4, and pulled out iptables, ipchains, and
ipfwadm; none are overly big. Is this all the changes there are? I
noticed he changed /etc/init.d/network, but in Oxygen ALL firewall code
is segregated from network code, so this should not affect Oxygen,
right?
How will iptables and the new networking code affect things like ntop,
nmap, and tcpdump?
