So have SuSe and Mandrake solved the CDROM boot problem? I am referring to Dave Douthitt's "Developing for LRP" document and the section "Making a Bootable LRP CDROM" > Important Considerations > There are many things to consider in creating a bootable CDROM using > LRP. > Packages cannot be loaded from the boot medium, since the boot medium is > a floppy disk image artificially loaded into memory via PC BIOS INT 13. > Only syslinux, the Linux kernel, and root.lrp (the root filesystem > loaded by the Linux kernel) are available. > Packages might be stored on the CDROM in a directory. I was thinking about this issue last week, when I was using Red Hat's anaconda kick start program. It all starts with syslinux and boots into ram. If at the syslinux LINUX prompt you type in "linux ks=floppy", anaconda is launched with a preprogrammed set of install instructions. The CDROM is still available to the linux system controling the Red Hat install. Or are there many issues that I just don't understand yet about the El Torrito problem and LEAF? Moreover, could Red Hat's Anaconda or SuSe's Alice be used as a way to automate a LEAF configurations? Anaconda allows a %post section to perform bash or perl scripting to configuration that the rest of the installer does not take care of. I know Alice exists, but have not explored it yet.
