Well! I do believe I really have done something new...

I compiled Xdialog, put most libraries in statically (except basic
system libraries), and tried it, sending output to a remote X server
(and, I might add, viewing the result on a VNC viewer session in the
other virtual terminal on the same Oxygen box :-)

It works just fine, just beautifully!

What this means is, you could, from your X workstation, ssh into your
firewall, then set up the system using your X display. If ssh was setup
to do X11 forwarding - you could even have the traffic encrypted.
Graphic menus and displays, and full mouse control! If the enhancements
to Xdialog were used, there's even MORE possibilities....

Next thing is to take apkg, acfg, and setup and convert them to use a
"generic" dialog - or perhaps, just add a link and see how it goes.

The drawback is the size of it all: 600M. However, this could
potentially be trimmed by using libraries (not static), by stripping
libraries, and removing some functions like gauge and tailbox
functions... However, since I had 800M free on the disk, just to get it
working I didn't worry too much about giving up all that space.
