The main thing making it pre-release at this point (instead of a release candidate) is the lack of a good IPSec V1.91 package, which I hope to rectify soon. This version of the CD is much more like the floppy version on initial boot, so if you're running with a dynamic IP, pretty much all you have to do is setup your NIC card, backup modules, and you're running. If you don't want/need the dhclient, dhcpd, dnscache, or weblet packages, simply create a lrpkg.cfg on your config floppy edited the way you want. If you've already started using the previous CD version, the only thing to watch out for is the etc package. To migrate an existing etc configuration to the new CD version, which has some init.d scripts fixed, do the following: - Load etc normally (ie no etc:R in lrpkg.cfg). This will load your etc from floppy on top of the etc from the CD-Rom, which will get you the new etc.local file - Do a PARTIAL backup of etc...this will NOT backup the init.d scripts on your floppy (at this point, you have the old, broken init scritps) - Reboot, and you'll get the new init.d scripts from the CD, as well as any /etc/* files that you might have configured previously. All other packages should be OK just swapping out the CD & keeping any config info from your previous floppy. There are several changes and bug-fixes in this release, including: ---------- Changes from Dachstein-CD pr1 to Dachstein-CD pr2: ---------- Verified weblet works properly on default boot Configured initial packages loaded to match floppy Dachstein version: etc,ramlog,local,modules,dhclient,dhcpd,dnscache,weblet Updated backup scripts to support using text name in addition to number for package identification.
