That would remove a few of our main advantages, like only use the packages
you need, update an individual package, etc.

But why should we make an initramfs for leaf now anyway? It has some
advantages (and disadvantages) but it's not something magical. An initrd
like we use now is perfectly capable for its goal. With a kernel update
it's a logical step, but I don't see an initramfs as a drive to move to
kernel 2.6.
