They both work quite well, but the CF-IDE solution requires less in the way
of software and drivers.  You do need kernel level support for either the
DOC/DOM or CF-IDE, but you'll find more kernels compiled with IDE than
DOC/DOM.  Also, since the CF-IDE doesn't require custom BIOS support to boot
the way DOC/DOM does, you get to keep more of your low 640K memory.  This
may or may not be an issue for you, but it's something to think about.

Once running, both systems work similarly.  Reads are fast, writes can be
fast or slow, depending on the state of the flash memory (ie if any sector
erases need to happen, which take several seconds).
