Hi Pete,
I have here a similar configuration running
A Eigerstein firewall and a fileserver running Suse 6.3
I pick up my mails from external pop3 servers using fetchmail and
deliver it direct to local mail files on the fileserver using procmail.
On the fileserver also sendmail is running as local mail relay and to
receive status mails from local print and file servers and from the
firewall.
I don't know if a fetchmail and a procmail package exist out there.
Here are config files for fetchmail and procmail
.fetchmailrc is placed in the home root homedirectory
I run fetchmail every 30 minutes as cron job.
