That's very kind and statesmanly of you :) > I have a Dachstein CD LEAF, with multiple subnet's (eth1-eth3) > I have been working on this for weeks and I have made it to the point > eth0 =(cable modem) > where the subnet on eth1 works fine. > > the second subnet (eth2) however does not.... here's where its at. > the lrp box is configured for dhcp on both eth1 and eth2 > workstations on eth2 receive the following. > > Windows 2000 IP Configuration > > Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : test > Primary DNS Suffix . . . . . . . : > Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcast > IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No > WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No > DNS Suffix Search List. . . . . . : private.network2 > > Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: > Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : private.network2 > Description . . . . . . . . . . . : AcerLAN ALN-325 10/100 Base-PX Fast > Ethernet Adapter > Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-60-67-73-EC-3E > DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes > Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes > IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.10 > Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 > Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.254 > DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.254 > DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.10.10.254 > Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Thursday, March 14, 2002 4:35:48 PM > Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Friday, March 15, 2002 4:35:48 AM > > eth1 is configured as above but changing all ip's to a 192.168.1. subnet, > dhcp server and dns server. > and the connection specific DNS suffix is (private.network) > > from a cmd prompt on a 2k workstation connected to eth2, I ping a www > address such as www.utahweb.com > the name eventually resolves, maybe 15 seconds later, and I get a reply, > the same or similar ping from a > workstation connected to eth1 resolves instantly! every time. > also from the NON working eth2 subnet, not a single web page will open, > other then the > page inside the lrp box. the all time out. > > on the LRP I have configured the following in the DNSCACHE configuration. > 1) lrp box internal IP > 0.0.0.0 > 192.168.1.254 > 10.10.10.254 > 2) querying hosts IP's > 192.168.1 > 10.10.10 > 127.0.0.1 > > I don't know what other areas to look in, or what other information I can > post. > any MORE help..lol would be fantastic!! So you can sit behind eth2 and ping to the internet by name and get a response, but you can't web surf there? You mentioned that name resolution from behind eth2 took 15 secs and from behind eth1 is instantaneous. Were you thinking this was bad? It sound fine. Are you now just trying to get the web surfing to work, because you figure that your routing is ok because ping works? Are you using the Dachstein builtin firewall script or something different like Shorewall or Echowall? Have you checked your syslog for denial messages? What do they say? _______________________________________________ Leaf-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/leaf-user
