Hmm... I'd say since this was in regards to pcmcia that
/etc/init.d/pcmcia would be a good guess.

Nah, don't worry... we all had to start somewhere ;).  Just feel
lucky you have this great mailing list as a resource ;).  I
think the RCDLINKS is a debian-ism.  I come from a redhat
backgroud which uses a chkconfig(?) mechanism... they basically
do the same thing.

I'd suggest... before creating your own init script, to read the
other /etc/init.d/ scripts.  This is how I'm sure most of us
learned.
