I do not have any experience with touch screen but it seems that linux 
drivers provided for DMC9000 are tailored to work under XFree. Which makes 
sense since you generally have a graphic interface when using a touch screen.

But if you need a kernel module you will have to compile in the appropriate 
kernel development environnnement:

Any user space program will have to be compiled unded Debian/slink. You can 
use a virtual machine to do that
