You will need to load also the relevant IDE modules.
Follow the instructions here
http://leaf.sourceforge.net/devel/jnilo/bucdrom.html
and instead of copying the initrd.lrp to the cdrom, copy it to the floppy.

Although Linux is a high quality certified product, cdrom's are ISO9660...

It depends on the cdrom's content. long file names and such...
