Rick;
I would think you would like to teach using the more current kernel, and
that would mean using Bering or Bering-Uclibc.
Bering-Uclibc is mainly equal to Bering but using a different library,
having said that version 2.0 will be for IP6, you may want to read more
about it it also can run in ip4 mode. A beta version is available for
trying.
Sorry on a small under powered computer at present or could give a better
 pointer. Other people know more about BGP and OSPF than I.
