Hello all, I am having a problem with NetMeeting and Desktop sharing. I am accessing the desktop of a Windows 2K PC from outside of my (actually my client's) LAN using NetMeeting desktop sharing. I forward TCP ports 1503, 1720 and 1731 to the target machine from my Bering 1.2 box. This works the first one or two times (or 3 if I am lucky). I log packets from net to these ports and I see a packet to port 1720 followed by a number of packets to port 1503 for each attempt to connect with NetMeeting.
However, after the first few attempts the call starts failing. NetMeeting will connect, but I will not be able to use Desktop sharing, application sharing or text messaging. When I look at the logs I see the packet to port 1702 but do not see any packets to port 1503. I can __sometimes__ clear this problem by unloading both the conntrack and nat helper modules for h323 and re-loading them. This does not work all the time. When it does not work, Bering will sometimes become a zombie and I can not even log on. This sounds suspiciously like a memory leak problem in the conntrack module. Has anybody else run across it? Any fix for the problem? Before you tell me to use an alternative to NetMeeting, we have tried VNC and setting up an IPSec VPN but because of various router/firewall configurations along the way over the which we have no control, relevant ports for these applications are blocked. By the way, NetMeeting works fine on the local LAN and also via VPN when we can establish a VPN connection. -- ____________________________________________________________ Muiz Motani Intelligent Distribution 72-6800 Lynas Lane, Richmond, B.C.
