No, nothing changed in that area. The only difference with this kernel in
comparison with the previous beta is a patch that makes booting without a
keyboard controler possible (for PC-engines hardware). But nothing VGA related.
Can you try to change the kernel ('linux') with the one from the latest beta?

I'm try new 2.3-rc1 package with old kernel of 2.2.3 package. Also in
new initrd was changed corresponding modules for booting from ide. Same,
with vga card ok and no boot wthout it. Some day soon I'm try connect
bering box to my computer using rs232 cable and look what happens.
Perhaps it resolve faster .
