I think the important points are some sort of checksum to help catch mangled files and an expiration date if you expect the file to cover modern leap seconds. If you expect that there really will be multiple variants of the data, you might put an ID into the file, maybe the author and year, any string that will be unique in that context. -- These are my opinions.
