I'd like to have my cake and eat it too: The only thing I could find
regarding whether you could enter simple transactions at the command
line into gnucash reported that you couldn't do that, but that was
from approx 2001 or 2002 I think.

I would like to be able to do everything at the command line, but once
in a while open up the whole thing in gnucash to balance things when
necessary. My understanding is that when you have ledger set up to
work with gnucash, it pulls the native gnucash info (in whatever form
that is) and translates it into ledger to do the reports. Therefore
the human readable ledger data file format is not used.

Is what I'm describing currently possible?

Thanks,
Dave

p.s. I did come across this:
http://cashutil.sourceforge.net/

but it was last updated in 2007...
