I agree.  At the same time, I wonder whether this would come up in the
real world.  Do you have a real-world example?

Interestingly, bal --flat shows the same result.  I would've expected
Income to show up with --flat.

Playing around some more with --flat, the following also doesn't give
the result I'd expect:

2014/04/24 Test
    A                  10.00 USD
    A:A                20.00 USD
    A:B                30.00 USD
    Income            -60.00 USD

$ ledger -f d bal 'A'   --flat
           60.00 USD  A
           20.00 USD  A:A
           30.00 USD  A:B
--------------------
           60.00 USD

A should be 10.00 USD in this example (with --flat).

This wouldn't work as it would mean that Income:Work has 100 and -100.
