So,
- the very slow ledger performance you were seeing on your personal data
was due to assertions
- you're seeing ledger out-perform hledger on both your personal data
and my sample journals, as expected (I'd still be interested to see what
detailed numbers you get from the same tests I ran, if you ever have the
urge)
- you're not seeing the big ledger register slowdown on the sample
journals that I see here. If no-one else reproduces this, I guess I'll
profile it.
