wondering if an intermediate step might be to modify ledger to support 
iso8601 typed metadata? I looked at boost and noticed there are the 2 
functions: to_iso_string and from_iso_string that could be used to handle 
the following transaction-level metadata declaration.

If less time required, could you estimate a WAG( Wild A-- Guess) for 
level-of-effort for this John? Thx.
